PrefectHQ/fastmcp

FastMCP is a Pythonic framework for building MCP servers and clients, doing for the Model Context Protocol roughly what FastAPI did for REST — drop the boilerplate, keep the structure. MCP is gaining traction fast as the interop layer between LLM agents and external tools, and right now the tooling for building MCP servers from scratch is still rough. FastMCP smooths that out with decorator-based routing and sensible defaults. The PrefectHQ pedigree matters here: these are people who have already built production-grade orchestration abstractions once. Reservation: MCP itself is still early, so betting heavily on this depends on whether the protocol consolidates or gets eclipsed. But if you are already building agent tooling or want to expose your SaaS as an MCP-compatible tool surface, this is the least painful way in right now. -> Best for: AI engineer or indie hacker building LLM agent integrations
